"If the trees could talk..."

Films: Vengeance (2006)

Alias: Tiger wasps, giant snakes, crocodile-lizards, forest vampires (Si-on, Kampang)

Type: Mystical

Location: Jungle

Height/Weight: Ranges from that of wasps to that of a bus.

Affiliation: Neutral

Summary: Time travel doesn't need modern tech to be a thing. It also doesn't need it to be a very bad thing. And most of the time, it's a bad thing. Bad enough to poison an entire forest.

History: Two decades ago, a horde of thieves took away a sacred time-travelling coin from a jungle somewhere in the Payamek Mountains. The result was catastrophic, as the loss of the sacred coin malformed the wildlife, cursed the natives to turn into vampires every full moon, and doom the thieves to greed and ruin. Now, there are those who would venture into the woods either to get away from authorities, or to perhaps return said coin and undo the curse.

Notable Kills: Nothing special.

Final Fate: After the full moon comes and just about everyone is killed by vampires (with a serpent getting involved later), our hero tries to use the coin to undo the death of his father, but instead creates a time paradox that undoes him. The coin is nevertheless returned to its original place, and the curse passes.

Powers/Abilities: The vampires have extraordinary agility and strength, and become leaf-based monsters under the full moon.

Weakness: Anything conventional.

Scariness Factor: 3-The vampire tribe is worth avoiding, unless you somehow form good connections with them before nightfall. But most of the creatures here are brought to life by some rather unconvincing CGI. Doesn't make them any less of a threat, though.

Trivia: -This film was directed by Pleo Sirisuwan, who would do yet another jungle snake movie in the form of "The Scout".

-The Payamek Mountains don't actually exist. There are many other mountains in Thailand though, chief among them Doi Inthanon, named in honor of the very nature-friendly Inthawichayanon, the last king of Chiang Mai.

"Surprise!"

"You honestly thought I wouldn't come with more of my kind?"
All hail the ruler of the green!
Not all parts of this forest are bad...maybe.
Uh...can we turn back? Go to Ohio instead?
